Leed Certified Buildings

Leed Certified Buildings - Benefits of Energy Monitoring Certified Buildings

The construction industry has developed guidelines for Leed Certified Buildings for the Green building friendly, offered through the U.S. Green Building Council. (USGBC) has a unique scoring system and method to score a building as Green qualified called "leadership in Energy and Environment Design. (LEED) has been considered the industry standard in defining the guidelines for developing high-performance, sustainable green buildings, these are currently voluntary.

Builders have to use their own knowledge of green building practices and then apply for Leed Certified Buildings through voluntary consensus by others who are in the process of setting the standards. Thus, while they are more expensive to build, green structures will save money by conserving more energy over time. Another push towards the green build movement is by local governments. More and more municipalities are adopting the USGBC LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines for new and renovated buildings.

Sunoptics is the inventor and worldwide leader in high-performance prismatic day lighting. Since 1978, we have stayed true to our original vision of an energy independent world through day lighting. Sunoptics high performance prismatic skylights optimize lighting performance through patented prismatic lenses that provide the maximum amount of light transmittance while maintaining 100% diffusion which eliminates undesirable hot spots, glare and UV damage to the day lighted space.

Sunoptics is dedicated to creating the finest day lighting environments in which to work, shop, learn, live and play, and we are committed to reducing the world's dependence on fossil fuels for energy. Since 1978, over 1 billion square feet of day lighted space have been installed worldwide using Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights.

Green Building Technology is a broad term used to describe the design and construction of sustainable and environmentally conscious buildings. The driving force behind this is to lower our negative impact on the environment and, at the same time, make the buildings we live and work in safer and healthier for us. This has led to a dramatic increase in the number of sustainable projects. The USGBC has even initiated the Green Advantage Builders Certification for contractors to certify their knowledge in green building techniques.

Coollite is one of Bristolite’s proprietary Green Building Technology products that are truly going global because they meet the International Energy Conservation Code. Coollite’s outer glazing is coated with a proprietary spectrally selective material that blocks 85% of infra-red light and 99.2% of Ultraviolet light. The inner glazing of white prismatic directs 100% diffused, cool white light into the building’s interior. To be certified, the building project has to apply for it and submit the essential documents.

One of the best ways to avoid choosing the wrong skylight company is to compare the top companies in the industry. Today, we’ll be looking at Bristolite Day lighting Systems and our range of day lighting solutions, while comparing them to the wide range of commercial and residential skylights offered by Wasco Skylights. Wasco Skylights also offers energy-efficient skylights for offices. Several of the company’s skylights make use of Lumira aerogel – a highly efficient insulation material that blocks heat transfer while maximizing natural light transmission.
